"A man travels the world over in search of what he needs, and returns home to find it."         --George Moore

"Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter."         --Brad Henry

The challenge of family...

Have you ever felt overwhelmed and stressed out by difficult family problems? We all have. There are family conflicts we thought would never happen, are now a painful fact.

These problems seem to settle in and drag on with no apparent end in sight and no hope that they will ever be fixed. Daunting circumstances weigh heavy and the future looks dark. Whether it is saving your marriage or finding good parenting advice, the effort is worth it.

"Where will our country find leaders with integrity, courage, strength—all the family values—in ten, twenty, or thirty years? The answer is that you are teaching them, loving them, and raising them right now."         --Barbara Bush

The importance of family

The nuclear family has been a fundamental unit throughout history that links individuals together. Here emotional well-being and physical needs are met. Family can address life transitions and provide assistance with obligations that may be too burdensome for individuals. It begins with husbands and wives forming a strong relationship. Kids then add another level of complexity and a strong support structure becomes all the more important. In the case of single parent families, issues can be even more difficult.Commitment to this strong unity is often lost in the confusion and pace of life. Success becomes a priority. It is often measured by possessions and status. This tends to downgrade families and individuals become more vulnerable and self-centered. The importance of growing together as a family far exceeds the accumulation of things and is worth protecting. With the right cultivation, life experiences can be heartwarming and wonderful. Families can be a caring environment where the deepest thoughts are expressed and issues resolved.

The only rock I know that stays steady, the only institution I know that works is the family.
                      - Lee Iacocca

In truth a family is what you make it. It is made strong, not by number of heads counted at the dinner table, but by the rituals you help family members create, by the memories you share, by the commitment of time, caring, and love you show to one another, and by the hopes for the future you have as individuals and as a unit.
                      - Marge Kennedy

Many are realizing money is not everything. Some are considering the health and well being of themselves
and their families, above fatter pay checks, as they realize the emotional wedges growing between
them and the very people they were trying to provide for.
